Annual Christmas Party
About the Michigan Vintage Volkswagen Club
The club incorporated officially as the Michigan Vintage Volkswagen Club when Al Bulgrin became president. Our chapter was formed in the fall of 1987.
Our first Car Show was held at Anthony Motors, a VW/Mazda dealership in Sterling Heights. A nice attraction was a 1945 Split Window Beetle owned by VoA. This was the oldest known Beetle in the U.S. at the time. The weather on show day was sunny and bright, and some thirty-plus air-cooled cars were displayed.
In recent years, our Car Show has developed into a Festival held at Riverside Park in Ypsilanti each May. Several hundred vehicles are usually on display at this non-judged event.
In 2013, an overwhelming majority of MVVC members voted to include all vintage (25 years or older) VWs into the MVVC vehicle focus. This includes the water-cooled versions heretofore excluded, as well as air-cooled originals, restorations, customs, race cars, drag cars, kit cars, dune buggies, trikes, ratrods and daily beaters.
The MVVC website has also developed into a comprehensive medium for Club-related information, including a photo gallery and an events calendar, supplemented by the Club's own Facebook page.
Our calendar of Club and VW enthusiast events includes at least one event almost every month.
