The MVVC is going to Hell!...

...and Dexter, Chelsea, Manchester, Saline, Ypsilanti and other points of interest and wonderment! For this year's Fall Color Tour, we stir our route anti-clockwise around the Detroit metro area from the past two Tours -- from east, then north, and now to the west -- into beautiful countryside and through some interesting cities, towns and hamlets.
Here's the "411" on the Tour:

-- Our tour begins at Karman USA, the site of our 2009 Festival. From there, we'll make our way west, out of suburbia, on a winding, undulating and leafy two-lane trek to Dexter. Our route then will take us right to Hell as we tunnel beneath canopies of fall color, meander on to charming Chelsea, and venture forth through the village of Manchester. From there, we motor along rural byways, through foliage, farm and berg to Saline and onward along backroads to Depot Town, Ypsilanti.

-- On our Tour, we'll stop at the historic Dexter Cider Mill and then spend some time in downtown Chelsea, which will afford us plenty of opportunity to stretch our legs, browse shops, have a snack and visit attractions such as the Chelsea Historical Museum, Chelsea Teddy Bear Factory and a kid's activity center, located in the Clocktower complex (where we'll park). An early 20th Century train depot with interesting history and a park featuring an intricate mosaic art installation within walking distance of downtown round out points of interest. Our Tour will wrap up at the Sidetrack/Frenchie's restaurant in Ypsilanti's Depot Town for dinner, socializing and reflection on the Tour.

We will start gathering at Karmann USA (on Pilot Drive, south off of 5 Mile Road between Beck and Sheldon Roads in Plymouth) at 10:00 AM. The Tour will leave Karmann at 11:00 AM. The total route will cover about 110 miles (about the same distance as last year's route) entirely on pleasant, scenic paved roads with no expressway travel. We expect to arrive at Sidetrack/Frenchie's restaurant in Ypsi at 4:00 PM or so.

Here's perhaps your last chance for the year to give that vintage VW a nice workout, a good run to get that oil pumping and valves happily tapping. For more information, please contact Tom Siligato at events@mvvc.net or phone (248.489.4136 and leave a message with call back number).

Sound good? Hope to see you on the 18th of October!
